| What is a Lottery Pool? | |
| A lottery pool is a group of individuals(its Members) pool their money together, both sharing the risks and rewards of playing the lottery with team-work. | |
| How is a Lottery Pool beneficial to it's Members? | |
| By the Members pooling their money, they are able to increase their individual chances of picking the correct numbers. Example, 1 person with 1 dollar only has one set of numbers to pick, but if 10 people with each a 1 dollar can have 10 numbers to pick to win. Therefore increasing the chances of winning by 10 times! | |
| What are the drawbacks to being in a Lottery Pool? | |
| One word, Sharing. For some reason when it comes to good news, people aren't very willing to share. Example: when we hear on the news that a 10 person Lottery Pool won the 12 million dollar Grand Prize; we don't really hear, wow each person won 1.2 million each! No, it's typical to hear, wow, too bad they have to share that 12 million dollar prize. Personally, in this case, I feel it's better to get 10% of something, rather than 100% of nothing. | |
| Are Lottery Pools legal? | |
| Yes, very much so. The Pennsylvania Lottery even explains how groups can claim prizes. | |
| How are Lottery Pool winnings split up? | |
| Generally, between the Members of the Lottery Pool, proportional to the percentage of participation. | |
| If Lottery Pools are so great is everyone using them? | |
| Not every one, or we would see all published winner names listed individually, but you can find many winners listed as a group. Whether between a husband and wife, family Members or co-workers. The Powerball® site list past winners, read for yourself. | |
| So, why is VirtualLotteryPool.com ("VLP") so Great? | |
| VLP offers many great features: * Ease. We will handle ticket purchases for each and every Powerball® drawing(twice a week). * Convenience. We are always here. No more running about to find out what are your ticket numbers. Just Login. * Security. We post copies of the tickets to our website, you can Login and print them up. We also maintain accurate records and notify you, via email, when a new set of tickets are purchased. * Privacy. Unlike many internet-based services, we don't 'sell' your identity to other companies. | |
| So, VLP is great, but how does it work? | |
| After after becoming an active Member: 1. VLP purchases the Pa Powerball® Lottery Tickets, one set of numbers per Active Member per specific drawing. 2. VLP notifies the Active Members Participating in that drawing's tickets, which have been purchased. 3. You return to your account and copy/print the ticket numbers. The cycle repeats win/loss till your Membership runs out. | |
| How long do I have to join VLP? | |
| A Membership is 104 drawings(~1 year) long. | |
| Can I just buy the tickets from VLP? | |
| NO. We are not ticket agents, nor is our service intending to be ticket agents. We are selling a computer service, which give you the "right' to a portion of the ticket winnings, with the chances of winning going up as we increase in Membership. | |
| Can I be a part of VLP, and my Office's Lottery Pool? | |
| Yes, being a part of VLP does not prevent you from joining other Lottery Pools. | |
| Can I be a part of VLP, and buy my own tickets too? | |
| Yes, you can share in the increased winning odds of being a part of VLP, and still purchase your own individual tickets. | |
| Can anyone Join? | |
| Yes, as long as you meet our Membership requirements. | |
| What are VLP's Membership requirements? | |
| 1. Member must NOT be a minor. 2. Member must be a resident of the United States of America (Example: Must have a SSN or a Federal Tax Id Number). 3. Member must meet the Pa Lottery requirements for playing and claiming prizes for Powerball® | |
| So, what about not being a resident of Pennsylvania? | |
| The Pa Lottery does not require players/winners to be residents of Pennsylvania. | |
| So, what about not being a resident of the United States of America? | |
| You can not play via VLP. Sorry. | |
| Where can I find all the Site's Policies? | |
| You can find a list here, for you to read: * Site Use Policy * Privacy Policy * Membership Terms and Conditions * Site News and Announcements |
|
| OK, this sounds interesting, how do I join? | |
| Just read and fill out the necessary information in the Join Section, and you are on your way to being an active Member of VLP. | |
| I signed up, what now? | |
| After we've received the necessary funds, you are now an active Member. You will receive information on what drawings you are a part of, and how to see the actual lottery tickets for your records, and we watch and see if we win. | |
| How soon after you receive the money do I get to be a part of each drawing? | |
| The tickets are purchased ahead of time(2-4 weeks), to allow current Members time to view/print/dispute the information. So, although you might start seeing notifications that you are a Member in up and coming drawings, but those drawings might be a few weeks away. | |
| Do I get the tickets sent to me? | |
| No. VLP is not a ticket agent, nor are we selling lottery tickets to any individual. | |
| How do I know what numbers to watch for at each drawing? | |
| You will be able to log into your account, and a listing of up and coming drawings, that you are participating in, will be displayed there. From this list, you will be able to open a file that is a scanned copy of the tickets, and each page will have printed on them your initials and zip code(to help verify you are a Member of a particular set of numbers). | |
| Can the numbers be sent to me via Email? | |
| No, to promote information accuracy, we felt it was best that the tickets be scanned for your viewing, and kept in one location to prevent possible mistakes. | |
| How are the number picked for each drawing? | |
| All numbers are picked via "Quick Pick". A random set of number generated by the lottery machine. | |
| How many numbers per drawing per Member, and can I adjust this? | |
| One set of number per active Member per drawing. No, this is not adjustable, you can not choice how many numbers per account, this adds to this services simplicity. | |
| Can I sign up for more than one VLP Membership? | |
| Since there is a direct relationship between a Membership and a specific email(to help guarantee we can get hold of you for winning ticket notices), you will have to have a separate email address for each account. Making it possible if you want to have more than one Membership to VLP. | |
| Is there a limit to VLP's total Member group size? | |
| Not at this time. VLP understands that there are some people willing to sacrifice lottery wins, for prize sizes. So, as our membership base grows, VLP will offer to its members, an option to be placed in a mass group(unlimited member size), or be placed in a group that limits its size(say ~20 people). This will allow an opportunity to appease all types of lottery players. | |
| How much does it Cost? | |
| The cost of joining VLP is just cover the cost of tickets for your participation. There are no extra fees attached. Our Membership Terms and Conditions have more detail on the actual prices. | |
| What happens when my Membership is ending? | |
| You will be notified when your account has a low balance of drawings left. | |
| Will I be automatically billed again when my Membership runs out? | |
| No, we do not automatically bill any one at this time. If this becomes and option in the future, this will be selectable as a feature to you in your Account setup. | |
| Can I "double-up"? | |
| No, one set of numbers per active Member per drawing. Some people have asked about a second Membership to further increase overall odds of winning and a bigger portion of the winnings. This is in the FAQ. | |
| OK, I've changed my mind, what is the Membership funds refund policy? | |
| Since, there are a few weeks before your balance of drawings is used, between the time of you paying, and the first drawing is deducted from your balance. So, we offer a 14-day period 100% refund policy, starting from the time we receive the payment. After that refund period the Membership stands "as-is", and you must let the Membership run out. More detail can be found in the Membership Terms and Conditions. | |
| Half a year has gone by, I want my Membership funds back. | |
| Please referrer to this FAQ for basic refund policies, and the Membership Terms and Conditions for more detailed information. | |
| I've become spiritual and now hate Gambling, what now? | |
| Well if you have gone beyond the refund period, we can work with you to setup your account to remain 'active' but your portion of future winnings to be donated to a certified charity. | |
| What is my proof I am a Member of a winning drawing? | |
| You have several means of identifying you are a Member of a winning set of numbers: 1. You have ability to copy/print scanned set of tickets with your initials and zip code located on the document. Example of a Ticket Document. 2. We maintain accurate records of all Members of a specific drawing. 3. We will notify you, by certified mail(, to obtain necessary information required to claim your portion of the winnings. | |
| How am I notified if I am a Member of a winning drawing? | |
| There are several steps made to notify you, but it is your responsibility to keep your contact information up to date with VLP. First, certified letters identifying the winning number, and requesting your information for claiming the prize will be sent out. (The only "Official" way you will be contacted). Second, to speed up the process of accumulating the information required to claim the prize VLP will try to contact you via Email, so you can call us, and/or will call you if you have a phone number on file. Our Membership Terms and Conditions has more detail of the agreed on means of communicating winning information, claim dead-lines, and what information we require from you to completely process the lottery claim. |
|
| What information am I required to provide, when we have a winning drawing? | |
| If we have a prize >$600.00 an IRS form 5754 must be filled out with the following information from each winner. Name, Tax Payer Identification Number, and Address. Since, VLP will be responsible for filling out this IRS form, you will provide this information to VLP, and VLP will present all completed forms to Pennsylvania Lottery as a lottery pool. If the prize does not IRS form 5754 to be filled out, no extra information other than what is in your Membership information is required. | |
| What if the total winnings is below or equal to $600.00? | |
| This would be a low prize, and not our goals, but still something to cover. VLP will file as the clamant, and distribute the winnings per Membership Terms and Conditions into cash balances. Which can be used for a later special 'extra' sets of number, used for next, Membership period, or distributed to the winners directly as a cash balance return/refund. | |

| The person(s) receiving the money. You receive money from the lottery authorities, you pay taxes. VLP is not responsible for any individual's tax obligations. | |
| Can I transfer my winnings to another person? | |
| No. The paperwork can only include Member's names that were Members as the time of the drawings. Once you have been properly filed, and you receive your money, you can do with it as you see fit. | |
| What information must I provide VLP to join? | |
| To join, you need to provide a valid email address to Login and receive notifications, and a mailing address to receive official documentation when a lottery drawing wins. | |
| What do VLP do with this information? | |
| VLP stores and tracks user participation with lottery drawings, and uses this information for correspondences with the VLP Members. | |
| Does VLP share this information with anyone? | |
| No personal information is shared with another private company. During times of lottery winnings claims, it might become necessary to share private information with the lottery authorities to claim the prizes. This is dependant on amount won, and lottery rules. You will be provided a means to "opt" out, if you don't want to claim your share of the lottery winnings. | |
| What if I don't want to share any information with VLP? | |
| Then you can not join. | |
| Does this mean I can remain anonymous, even if I win? | |
| Well, no. Although we will not sell your information, at certain prize levels, VLP has to turn in all prize winners names. Once the lottery authorities have this information, they will usually treat it as public information. This process is totally out of our hands. | |
| Can I change my password? | |
| Yes, in your contact information section. | |
| What if I forget my password? | |
| You can get it sent to your email address via our "Contact Us" form. | |
| I'm busy, can I give my password to my friend to check the account? | |
| No. This compromises the whole team's security, and violates the Membership Terms and Conditions. If you are unavailable for extended periods of time, you can contact VLP before hand and we can provide means to manage your account for you. | |
| How is sharing my Login information unsafe? | |
| By being a Member, you are able to access information contained about yourself, and if time comes to process lottery winnings, a person could direct your winnings to them. | |
| What if I think someone has stolen my password? | |
| Please log into you account and change it. Plus, notify VLP about the incident and we can preserve the integrity of your information. | |
